A personal note from the builder of Keto Tracker Pro

How it started with keto

I did not come to keto as a trend follower or as someone looking for the next shiny thing. I came to it because my health was heading in the wrong direction, and I finally reached a point where ignoring it no longer felt honest.

I had been overweight for a long time. Like a lot of people, I could lose weight now and then, but it never seemed to last. After a few weeks, old habits would creep back in and the weight would come back with them. It was frustrating, but more than that, it was starting to feel expensive in the way only declining health can feel expensive.

Around that time, even the signals that are easy to brush off started becoming harder to ignore. My Withings scale showed a vascular age that was higher than I wanted to see. That hit me harder than I expected. I have three young girls depending on me, and I felt very clearly that this was not just about how I looked or whether I could lose a few kilos for a while. It was about whether I was willing to take responsibility for my own health in a way that might actually last.

The first thing that made it real

I bought a blood glucose meter from BeKeto and started checking my fasting blood glucose in the mornings. That simple habit did something important for me: it turned vague concern into concrete feedback. Morning after morning, the number was elevated, usually over 100. Seeing that regularly made it much harder to tell myself everything was probably fine.

That was the point where keto stopped being an abstract idea and became something I genuinely wanted to understand. I started reading, measuring, testing, and paying attention. Not in a perfect way, and not with the feeling that I had suddenly become a different person overnight, but with enough honesty to realize I needed a better approach than the one I had been repeating for years.

Why I started building this app

Keto is simple in theory and surprisingly easy to get wrong in practice. It is a strict way of eating, and it does not take much for the carbs to add up faster than you think. I wanted to track things manually because I like knowing what I actually put into my body, but I also felt the friction that comes with tracking. If logging food feels like a chore, most people will not keep doing it for long.

So in May 2025, I started building Keto Tracker Pro for myself. The original goal was not to create another app full of noise. It was to make manual tracking flow well enough that I would actually keep using it. Ever since then, I have been iterating on it in the most practical way I know: whenever I feel friction while using it, I adjust it. The app has grown out of real daily use, not feature brainstorming for its own sake.

What keto looked like for me

Yes, I did lose the weight. My first strict keto period lasted four months. By strict, I mean staying below 20 grams of tracked net carbs per day, and in practice I usually ended up somewhere around 10 to 15 grams.

People say, “You do not date keto, you marry keto.” I get what they mean, but my version is a little more modern: sometimes a marriage is for a season. For me, keto is not necessarily something I do every single day forever. It is something I come back to for three or four weeks when I feel the need, because I know it works well for me when I want to tighten things up and feel better again.

That is also why Keto Tracker Pro includes an off-keto mode. I did not want the app to become useless the moment I was not in a strict ketogenic phase. I still want help with macros and manual tracking even outside keto, and I know I am not the only one. The app is meant to support real life, not just ideal streaks.

What I want this to be

Keto Tracker Pro is built around a simple idea: tracking should help you, not wear you out. I want it to feel clear, fast, and intentional. Something you can use consistently without it becoming another job.

Over time, the app will likely have a paid mode to support its development and help support me and my family. But it will always keep a free mode that is genuinely useful and not crippled into frustration. I care a lot about that. I want this to be the kind of product I would still respect as a user.

This page is the foundation of the story, and I will keep refining it over time. But the short version is this: keto got my attention when my health did, and this app grew out of a real need to make daily tracking easier to live with.
